CRAFTSMAN

Founded 1979 —
a “one-of-a-kind comfort,”
by a shoemaker’s hands.

The finest slipper is one with no compromise anywhere — a slipper that surpasses convention. It is the quality and design only a shoemaker can express, brought to the humble slipper.

MASTER CRAFTSMAN

Naomichi Takahashi

Founder and imperial-warrant artisan. From carving the wooden last to the final stitch, he pours every traditional shoemaking technique into indoor footwear — the origin of SANAX.

CRAFTSMAN

Kokichi Sasaki

An artisan carrying on Takahashi’s craft. Over 45–70 days per pair, he creates a clinging feel that follows the shape of the foot — a skill only a shoemaker possesses.

MATERIAL & CRAFT

Materials & Craftsmanship

Supreme comfort is born from a precisely designed wooden last — a shoe-like fit, and the beautiful curves that create it. A form carefully drawn to follow the shape of the foot.

01

Built from a wooden last.

We don’t rely on ready-made forms. The clinging feel the moment you slip in is the shoemaking method itself.

02

World-standard leather.

Premium shrink leather from MASTROTTO, one of Italy’s largest tanneries. Fine horsehide inside, quiet napped pigskin below.

03

moco Hands Free®

A proprietary mechanism to slip on without bending or using your hands — evolving as an everyday essential, gentle even for the elderly.

DETAIL 01 — THE LAST

No ready-made molds.
Built from a precisely designed wooden last.

Like shoemaking itself, every SANAX slipper begins from the wooden last. The clinging sensation the moment you slip your foot in is the shoemaker’s method, applied to indoor footwear.

DETAIL 02 — UPPER LEATHER

Cowhide from MASTROTTO,
one of Italy’s largest tanneries.

The upper uses premium shrink leather chosen by global fashion houses as well. Strong against scratches and stains, dyed with great care — a leather whose character deepens as it molds to your days.

DETAIL 03 — LINING & SOLE

Horsehide against the skin.
A napped pigskin sole, designed even for its sound.

The lining is soft, finely grained horsehide with a moist touch that wraps the foot. The sole is napped pigskin that suppresses the slap of footsteps, breaking in with wear — with antibacterial and deodorizing benefits, odor and stuffiness stay away.

DETAIL 04 — TAILORING

45–70 days for a single pair.
Even resistance to fatigue is sewn in.

Artisans build each pair over 45 to 70 days. Every stitch is placed with intention, so that comfort — and freedom from fatigue — lasts through years of daily use.

ORIGINAL TECHNOLOGY

Draining your body’s static, from the ground up.

Conductive fibers woven into the sole release the static built up in your body with every step — a technology unique to SANAX.

A construction found only at SANAX — carbon fiber combined with copper fiber.

Into every piece of SANAX footwear we sew a specially developed material — a rigid weave of carbon and copper fiber — exactly where the sole of the foot makes contact. It guards against stuffiness, bacteria and odor, and draws off the static electricity that builds up in the body, encouraging blood flow and lightening every step. (*Different from the static shock felt when touching metal.)

Development began roughly 40 years ago, from a single question: “Could footwear do something good for the human body?” Pairing carbon fiber with copper fiber achieved antibacterial and deodorizing effects along with air-discharge of the body’s static — with improvements in blood flow, brain-wave activity and physical balance demonstrated scientifically.

  • Removes static simply by wearing them
  • Unique carbon × copper fiber structure
  • Built into every collection
  • Effects last virtually permanently
How anti-static works: static in the foot discharges gently to the floor through a conductive sole of carbon and copper fiber.

MESSAGE

A message from craftsman Naomichi Takahashi

“Because it is used every day, I want it to be comfortable — and to last.”

SANAX slippers are the real thing — a shoemaker’s craft poured into indoor footwear.

Gentle even for the elderly and made to accompany you for a lifetime, we will continue to deliver each pair with care.
